CROSSING THE VEIL AND COMING BACK TO LIFE

Presenting an ensemble theater piece based on the true stories of people who have reported near death experiences. The stories follow a travel journey narrative starting with the “moment of death” when the characters have been declared clinically dead or experienced a medical crisis that brought them to the edge of death. This leads to a crossing of the veil between life and death where they had profound experiences and visions of life in the post-mortem realms. The journey concludes with a return to physical life and the challenges of sharing the experience with others and integrating it into their lives.

UNDERSTANDING AND RESPONDING TO THIS MOMENT IN OUR TIME - A CONVERSATION

As polarization, violent conflict, threats to democracy and mass displacement are on the rise across the world, many of us are asking how we might come to a deeper understanding of the particular moment in which we are living. What are the more veiled dynamics at play today? Some of us, as well, may be asking ourselves how to be a force for the good through inner work and outer deeds.

HEALING DANGEROUS DIVIDES: PEACEBUILDING AROUND THE GLOBE

The talk will address the potential for the field of peacebuilding to address the dangerous rise of polarization in the U.S. and around the globe. If left unchecked these “us vs. them” dynamics can shred the social fabric, destroy trust in government and civil institutions, and ultimately fuel violent conflict. In her work in war torn countries around the globe, Olivia has witnessed the countervailing potential for people to awaken to the humanity of those they have “othered” or seen as the enemy, even in the aftermath of war and genocide. Using her work in Rwanda as a case example, Olivia will speak to what makes the bridging and healing of deep divides possible and how we might better cultivate the conditions where that can happen.

ALL SOULS CELEBRATION

This evening is intended as an opportunity to quietly reflect on the passage from the sun-imbued summer into the darker, more inward time of year. It is an evening to gather our thoughts of those who have crossed the threshold, and to light a candle in their memory. The ceremony will be framed by artistic offerings and a brief talk by Reverend Robert Bower of the Christian Community.

ANTHROPOSOPHY AT WORK IN THE WORLD

In my talk “How I Engage the Work of Anthroposophy” – or in my work lexicon: “Anthroposophy through Ecosynomic Pactoecography” - we will explore some of the many ways that Anthroposophy has in-formed, as a formative force, how social scientists are mapping a strategic way forward for communities, organizations, and networks to embrace the flourishing of whole-human well-being. I will share local examples of where this framework has been applied in food, energy, and education systems, how the common-sense tools we use are formed out of Anthroposophic insights, and the questions this framing is allowing us to address. It is possible to live and work today out of the principles inspired by Anthroposophy, which many groups around the world are doing. I will share a little, then we will explore this together.
