Part Two: Reviewing some passages from “On the Wings of Words”that are related to inner capacities and ways of relating that we need to develop in order to engage in higher level civil discourse about American politics. These passages will be on the Branch website and/or sent to you in advance if you register for the event. We will consider in our Café circles a question or two related to current American politics.

In preparation for Gary’s visit, and for full participation in the two events, the reading of On The Wings of Words is recommended. It is available through SteinerBooks. steinerbooks.org / There is a digital and a printed copy available.

A Presentation and Workshop with Gary Lamb

Gary will present an Overview of Rudolf Steiner’s perspectives on Politics, Democracy and Government with Reference to Social Threefolding. The evening will include a comparison between a threefold social organism, private capitalism, socialism, fundamentalism, and the technology driven Network State movement. Additionally, we will explore the exoteric and esoteric aspects of modern day liberal and political parties in the U.S.. All of this will also be considered in the greater context of Earth evolution and the mission of Christ and Michael.

The Art of Acting — Tools for Life!
This workshop is an open, relatable opportunity to gather and explore the remarkable tools provided by the dramatic arts. Whether for help in auditions or work interviews, parenting, teaching, or theater experience, we will utilize speech and movement exercises and games and play to melt barriers, lower stress, integrate and relate and connect in new ways that involve more of our whole being—and have FUN doing it! No experience required, only a desire and willingness to play and to explore. Hartsbrook students are free; other school's students, $12, with a parent $25 for the pair; adults alone $20.

Together, over the course of three months, we will explore Rudolf Steiner's lecture cycle The Kingdom of Childhood. Given in 1924 in England, it is considered one of his most accessible and clear introductions to the rich tapestry of his pedagogical insights. This study is offered by Prof. Maria José Botelho, College of Education at UMass Amherst, current Hartsbrook School board member, and Hartsbrook alumni parent.

In this talk and conversation Signe, Olivia and I will read briefly from the recently published book Moved by Destiny: Life Stories of Social Engagement which contains 22 essays by individuals who have connected their lives to both Anthroposophy and to social reform efforts. We will then explore these questions in your life  in the whole group. It is my hope that we can give each other courage in this difficult and chaotic time by sharing our efforts at contributing to a better world. CS

The workshop on NOV 15th will be held at the Peace Pagoda's chapel, a building to the left of the Pagoda. Parking is at the bottom of the hill road leading to the Pagoda. Participants are asked to arrive no later than 8:50 for transit up to the workshop location, or arrive earlier to walk up. RSVP is requested and donation in advance so the proper number of chairs are available. Participants should bring a snack and drink, if needed.

Please join us for our third annual All-Souls Celebration on Saturday, November 1st at the North Hadley Congregational Church, presented by the Sojourner Branch of the Anthroposophical Society.

This evening is intended as an opportunity to quietly reflect on the passage from the sun-imbued summer into the darker, more inward time of year. It is an evening to gather our thoughts of those who have crossed the threshold, and to light a candle in their memory. The ceremony will be framed by artistic offerings and a brief talk by James Pewtherer.

Please arrive prior to the 7pm program opening.
There is parking in front and back of the church.

As our deepest hopes and aspirations are fraught with challenges, we can find meaning and direction in the view that our ideals are not illusions but realities to be realized through developing our full human potential.

This view informs my striving as an artist. My artistic activity continues to evolve as a path of contemplative inquiry into being and becoming human. In addition, I see myself as a cultural worker striving to serve the advancement of human culture and society.
